Workshops to be held Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Doubletree Hotel San Jose Registration Form
We are pleased and excited to offer the following workshops:

Plan to bring a basic tool kit unless the instructor has specified tools and supplies in the workshop description. Registration deadlines vary, so register as soon as you know which class you want to attend. A few instructors will take walk-ins if they have sufficient supplies, but it cannot be guaranteed. Please pay attention to skill level required, and the sack lunch recommendation for the longer classes.
Class #1 - Beautiful Strawberry Pot with Betinha Murta

Students will learn how to work with cold porcelain, an air dry clay. Most of the materials will be provided. Betinha will teach how to make a beautiful vase full of strawberries, leaves and flowers. The miniature will be finished at the class. Tools to bring: oil paint yellow, brown, red and green. Grease splatter screen for frying pan and a small sieve (Betinha will send a picture to students) and personal tools. |

Class #2 - Vignette In Antique Singer Sewing Box with Cathy Skeris

Create your dream space in 1 inch scale inside an antique Singer Sewing Machine Accessories Puzzle Box. You could make a toy store, a bridal shop or a ballet studio. These boxes are constructed of solid oak. Each one is an antique and unique in its character. You will line the box with fabric for the walls. Materials are supplied to build shelving and a clothing rack to hang items. Shelves and walls are decorated with lace trim and you will create a rug for the floor. Also included will be mirrors and framed art to adorn the space. All materials are supplied. Please bring Turbo Tacky, small sharp scissors and basic miniature tool box. If you forget something I always bring stuff to share. Bring lighting and magnification if you need it. |

Class #3 - Collectively Speaking by Kaye Browning, published in 2017, with Tine Krijnen, Netherlands

Create a one inch scale facsimile of the lovely tiny colorful book by Kay Browning, Collectively Speaking. Her first book about her and our passion of collecting miniatures. Students will learn how to make a book with a glued spine. Cutting the book in the right size….55 layers of paper…. will be the challenge. Glue and printed sheets will be provided. Students will be needing, strong hands, and patience. Kaye Browning's second book will be available as a kit. It cannot be guaranteed that the cutting of the book will go as straight as you might want. Practicing before this workshop will be advised. Class #4 - Wilhelmina, from Princess to Queen 1898 with Tine Krijnen, Netherlands

This Wilhelmina book, was Tine's first pop-up book published 25 years ago, in sepia. Now, as a treat to herself, a full color publication. The book was originally published for the occasion of the coronation of Princess Wilhelmina to Queen of the Netherlands. It was a simple pop-up book with four double illustration, which creates the pop-up effect. Students will learn how to sew a book with a pamphlet stitch, aging paper and end up with an adorable little pup-up book. Class #5 - Vintage Rose Tea Set with Tray and Plate Shelf with Ginger Landon-Siegel

Come learn some fun painting techniques using everyday objects to paint beautiful miniature roses and 2 toned leaves. You will learn the techniques to paint the rose border and center design of the oblong black metal tea tray. You will use these same techniques to paint the rose designs on the 3 non-opening teapots, the teacups for the black tray and filled shelf. The dimensional plates for the filled shelf will be pre-glazed. You will shape the plates and accent the edges with gold to enhance the overall effect. Completion of your tea set and filled shelf is expected. Everything shown is included with the class. All paints, special painting tools and preparation tools will be provided. Tools to bring: Tweezers, Small Curved scissors (like manicure scissors), Medium width flat or regular paint brush. | |
Class #6 - Winter Gingerbread Cottage OR Timbered Manor Pocket Watch Scene with Ginger Landon Siegel

Enjoy the fun of creating a unique pocket watch scene that you can wear or display. Choose either the Gingerbread Cottage with assorted candies, sugery looking snow and an adorable snowman with his top hat and scarf OR choose the Winter shopping scene complete with holiday shoppers. You will be learning dimensional layering and cutting techniques, use of dimensional paints to enhance your assorted candies and windows of your miniature scenes. You will also learn a paint and glitter technique to create the look of snow used in both scenes. This will be a fun and relaxing class creating a special piece to add to your miniature collection. Class #7 - The Watermill with Alison & Mike Thomas, UK

The Watermill is a new kit designed and made by Seaside Miniatures with lots of nostalgia and details to create a super cute project. Guidance to build this kit and fit battery interior lighting is included along with a “shabby-chic” paint finish on interior/ exterior and furniture for that lived in look. Accessories will be 3D printed and painted by Seaside to add those finishing touches. These include flour/wheat sacks, milk churns, fire cauldrons, canoe and many more. Seaside Miniatures was established in 2001 when we moved to the South Coast of England. Our inspiration for our kits and accessories comes from the Coastal Village we live in and regular trips to Northern France, where we are renovating a house. We design and make all our unique quarter scale kits with a laser-cutter and accessories which are 3D printed and painted to add little details. Many styles of furniture are also available complete. Working in quarter scale is a very manageable size with realistic detail and so cute! Class #8 - French Pastries with Ruth Stewart

Come and join me for a French Pastry Baking Class.You will learn how to make these beautiful tiny French Pastries. Lots of fun goodies will be included to help decorate them. Doilies, acrylic cake plates, fruit slices, French silhouettes, gold leaf and more! You will also learn how to make French Macarons and will have a mold to take home. I will also teach you how to make fancy meringue dollops using our NEW 3D Star Tip which you also will get to take home. You will receive everything you need to make the French Pastries. You will also receive a 1:12 Macaron mold and a NEW 3D Star Tip. Additional silhouettes, acrylic cake plates & Poly Blades to make more pastries will be available for purchase. | |

Create this charming quarter scale Wisteria Arbor. No one will finish in class but you will have fun making your wisteria look just the way you'd like. You just need to bring yourself, everything will be supplied. It is OK to bring your own tool kit if you'd like. | |
Class #10 - Whimsical Wingback Chair with Carol Sherry

Let's create a whimsical wingback chair! Students will receive a 3-D printed chair base plus all fabrics and supplies. This chair is designed by Carol Sherry and the legs will be pre-painted. Students will learn miniature upholstery techniques and leave class with a charming new chair! Tools/supplies needed: A fabric scissor, a scissor for cardboard and tacky glue. Small clamps are very helpful but not required. | |
Class #11 - Sweet Princess and Pea Bed with Jil Weisz

Come join Jil for a fun, low key, yet informative class. She designed a original Princess and Pea Bed just for this class as a companion piece to Dana Burton's doll class taught on Monday. You will receive an assembled bed, that Jil will teach you the basics of French style mural painting, in custom paint pulled from French paintings. Then we will use lush vintage fabric to make mattresses and pillows. Beginner friendly to advanced miniaturists welcomed. Jil will provide her Ooak bed that is fully assembled, custom paints, vintage materials and mattress. Tools/Supplies needed: Eileen’s tacky glue, short pins, all size brushes, including a #10 type liner brush to broad types for bigger coverage. Good cutting scissors for material. |
